We have been involved with short circuit road racing for some years now and in that time prepared Harley's, Triumph's and Yamaha and top fuel Harley drag racers.
I first got involved with motor sport during the early 90's as team mechanic for the Redkir Redskins competing in Harley-Davidson's 883 Sportster championship. The team took runner up spot in 92 and won the championship in 93. We also had the oppertunity to race at Daytona and finished a respectable 6th out of 80!
I was recently approached by local rider and very good friend, Chris Pope, to offer sponsorship with his Yamaha R1, he was then competing in the New Era Pro Bike championship. After several near death experiences on the road it seemed like a good idea!. After a major in race engine failure we stepped up the support by way of a new bike, Chris has gone on to develop the bike into quite a formidable package.
Chris during our 2006 campagne managed 2nd spot overall losing out by just 12 points on the championship.
2007 was a year we would rather forget, hampered with technical issues and bad luck the whole year was a bit of a wash out. That's racing!
2008 This year we are having a crack at North Glouster, I'll keep you posted as the year unfolds. We also have the benifit of a second bike this year, this should prevent us missing out on racing due to tech issues and breakages
Provisional race dates:
Sat 29-30 March Pembrey: You can always count on changable weather at Pemrey and this weekend was no exception. Saturday was as wet as an otters pocket ! it was cucking it down. As our entry was so late we had to start as a reserve from the back of the grid in 38th ! not the best of starts, this race was for grid position and Chris fought through to 7th. The race saw us score a podium finish with 3rd. In the open race we qualified on pole and scored another 3rd in the race.
Sunday was a nice sunny day. We stuggled to find a good dry set up, we had to run from the back of the grid again coming in 8th for our grid for the race, Chris struggled for grip and had to settle for 6th place. The open race didn't change our fortunes and try as he may kept spinning the tyre up on corner exit costing to much time and crossed the line in 7th. This puts us in 4th in the Powerbike championship. Not a bad start !
Sat 12-13 April Brands Hatch: It's often said that there is a lot of luck in racing, it would seem that we have none! I hardly know where to begin, we suffered two engine failures. one siezed main bearing and one big end and more importantly no points. That's racing!.......see you at Snett's
